Description

I am opening this edition of the Journal with an article on Intermediate Care by Dr Arup Banerjee whom you will know as an ex-president of the British Geriatric Society and a national leader in the development of Geriatric Services in the United Kingdom. Though not strictly a topic for CME, my aim is to provide readers with a reasoned view on the possibilities of Intermediate Care which may be helpful when shaping local services. This edition also features a comprehensive article by Dr Greg Summers on foot pain, along with a superb array of illustrations, which I hope will be of direct use in your day-to-day clinical work.

I am taking this opportunity to give you some idea of my longer-term plans for the Journal. As you will know, the British Geriatric Society, in collaboration with the Royal Colleges of Physicians, has published a suggested list of CME topics for the next 4 or 5 years. My intention is to take account of these suggested topics in planning the Journal for next year and the year after. Of course, we will not be adhering rigidly to that list, and interesting topics will be included as and when appropriate. Furthermore, I would like to reiterate my invitation to you to send in unsolicited material to be considered for publication. I continue to receive very positive feedback on the content and quality of the articles published in the Geriatric Medicine CME Journal, and I would like to encourage readers to continue to provide me with comments and suggestions. I hope you enjoy reading this edition.
