Description
This paper describes how Bexhill and Rother Primary
Care Trust in East Sussex is meeting the challenge of the
Governments target to help more smokers to stop smoking.
The paper outlines the national targets to reduce smoking,
the prevalence of smoking in Bexhill and Rother and the
work that is being done locally to help smokers quit and the
higher than national post quit abstinence rate of 58% at 4
weeks . All this is described against a background in which
the PCT has to deliver on these targets when faced with
other competing financial pressures. Recommendations for
future action within the area of reducing the number of
people who smoke are outlined.
