Why British Urology Needs a Cancer Sub-specialty

Description

I believe that British Urology needs a cancer sub-specialty, and has done so for some considerable time. We have been dilatory in identifying the needs for such subspecialisation and like many things have been bounced by external forces, in this case the Calman-Hine Report. I believe that British Urology initially, with the guidelines and secondly, with the proposal to establish an oncological sub-section of BAUS has responded with what I believe now to be a rational and all embracing vision for the cancer sub-specialty; that this has been needed, not only for scientific and clinical reasons, but also for very hard political and economic ones.
