Description
Angioedema results from swelling within the deeper dermis or mucous membranes. Attacks are disabling and potentially dangerous for the patient. They may be localised to one anatomical area or appear at multiple sites: if attacks are restricted to the intestinal mucosa, then whatever the aetiology, diagnosis may be delayed or deferred. Effective treatment is critically dependent on accurate assessment and diagnosis of the individual case.
