Description
The majority of respiratory physicians will not expect to
face the problem of investigating immuno-suppressed patients
with respiratory complications frequently. Advice in the literature
varies depending on the type of immunosuppression experienced
by various authors, HIV, haematological malignancy and transplantation
being the main areas discussed. There are both general and
disease-specific points which are worth highlighting in an
article such as this which is aimed at guiding those physicians
who may encounter the problem only infrequently.
