Description
This article confines itself to discussing those vulval tumours where opinions and attitudes hav recently altered or been clarified. It makes no attempt to be exhaustive or all inclusive. Recent changes in opinion on squamous carcinoma, particularly regarding aetiology, substaging and tumour variants, are discussed, as are Paget s disease and malignant melanoma where surgical debate is also occuring. Connective tissue tumours of the vulva hav received scant attention in the past because of their relative rarity; they represent an area, how v-er, where diagnostic difficulty is disproportionately frequent and are cov red in some detail for this reason.
