Description
The possibility of developing distant metastases in women with early breast cancer may suggest micrometastatic disease from the outset. If this concept is true, systemic therapy may provide the potential for additional benefit in this good prognostic group. However, this view remains controversial, not only with respect to accuracy of micrometastatic detection but also its biologic significance. Fisher, et al;1, have attempted to quantify the overall benefit of systemic treatment in this group of women.
