Description

Cross sectional imaging of the foot and ankle can be a most
useful diagnostic tool in the evaluation of the painful ankle

in establishing the differential diagnosis for a painful foot or
ankle. This article will consider the role of MRI and CT in
the following clinical scenarios:
1. Painful ankle following disruption of the ankle
lateral ligament complex
2. Tendonopathy, especially tibialis posterior, flexor
hallucis longus and peroneal tendons
3. Stress injuries to foot and ankle
4. Nerve entrapment syndromes
5. Painful diabetic foot
