Description
Laboratory diagnosis of acute hepatitis virus A (HAV) infection is usually based on serologic testing for IgM antibody to HAV. Occasionally patients like the one presented in this report can present before development of antibodies. In such cases serology should be repeated after a few days or HAV viremia can be detected by HAV RT-PCR.
