Description

The launch of the IBIS II breast cancer intervention study is sure to
cause increased interest in chemoprevention of breast cancer. In this
issue we have a review of the five large prevention trials that have
reported results, to provide a background to the progress made in breast cancer
prevention. The role of COX 2 inhibitors in cancer prevention is well covered in
the article by Shapira & Nader. Our understanding of the immunology behind
breast cancer and the interaction within the immune system is enhanced with the
article on dendritic cells from Prof Knight’s group.

The issue is rounded off with a well illustrated description of the LD miniflap
and the challenges of surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

We hope you find CME Breast to be a valuable resource that you continue to
use on a regular basis. We would very much welcome comments from our readers
on topics they would wish to see covered in future issues.
