Description
This is a large issue of the journal. It includes part two of Kate Park’s excellent review of the imaging of paediatric gastrointestinal emergencies. She discusses a range of imaging modalities and produces helpful flowcharts for management. Anne-Marie Coady reminds us that pathology may develop within the pregnant pelvis and discusses the imaging of ectopic pregnancy, uterine fibroids and ovarian pathology. On page 23 she discusses the use of MRI in pregnancy.
Symptomatic breast disease is an important topic. Important guidance that ultrasound is mandatory for all breast lumps and that all masses must be biopsied as radiological appearances can be misleading is given by Kate Gower-Thomas. The Oxford group have produced a review of the imaging of thyroid and parathyroid glands and importantly cover the role of conventional nuclear medicine and PET imaging.
