A 29 year old man is a driver involved in a head on collision. On presentation he is conscious and complains of neck pain. His blood pressure is 80/45, pulse rate 56 bpm. He can only move his left arm although he retains patchy sensation over the lower limbs, predominantly on his left. His lateral c spine film is shown (Figure 1).
