Description
Asthma is a frequent cause of respiratory symptoms, impaired quality of life and physical disability in older people. The symptoms of asthma are non-specific and investing time in getting the diagnosis right is essential. Spirometry is of paramount importance in the routine evaluation of the older patient with respiratory symptoms. Therapy very much follows the approach used in younger adults with the caveat that a very great emphasis needs to be placed on tailoring drug delivery devices to the older patient.
