Description
Allergy to natural rubber latex has become a major source of concern for patient safety in clinical practice. In addition it is a potentially serious occupational hazard to operating theatre staff. Various allergic reactions to latex can occur including anaphylactic reactions during the peri-operative period. Awareness about it is improving and this knowledge is important both for health care workers and the general public. This article reviews the clinical manifestations, diagnosis and management of latex allergy.
