Description
This article reviews the diagnosis, management and clinical effects of dizziness in older people with particular reference to the vestibular system. It is based on an understanding of the anatomical and physiological changes that occur with ageing and the multifactorial nature of balance problems. A flow chart is presented to help determine the cause(s) of dizziness based primarily on symptoms. The more common vestibular conditions are also described together with their management.
