Description
Ageing populations and rising levels of
obesity are contributing to a global epidemic of
diabetes that is threatening our health and
longevity: an estimated 300 million people
worldwide will suffer from Type 2 diabetes by
2025.1 A recent national diabetes audit found
the number of people with diabetes in the UK
now exceeds two million but estimates that
25% of the diabetic population are either
undiagnosed or not recorded on practice
registers; this suggests as many as one in four are
unaware they have the condition.
