Description

Abstract

This paper describes some modern concepts for periradicular surgery. New materials and techniques have revolutionised this procedure, generating more predictable results. The use of microsurgical techniques under magnification and the introduction of ultrasonic root-end preparation and biologically compatible root-end filling materials such as mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) allow regenerative healing to take place, provided the aetiological infective source is eliminated.
