Description
This article reviews treatment options, and the materials that may be used, for the restoration of endodontically-treated premolar teeth, and in addition reports on a clinical survey. 122 dental practitioners were asked to outline their preferred treatment preference for a hypothetical patient in whom the palatal cusp of an upper premolar tooth had fractured. The fractured tooth had been root filled and articulated casts and radiographs were presented to participants who were asked to select their preferred mode of treatment from a treatment proforma. A majority (58%) of clinicians opted for full crown restorations, whilst more senior registrars (84%) and consultants (67%) selected post-retained crowns than other professional groups (p=O.0049).
