Description

Dear Reader,

Since the publication of this journal it has been circulated free to core hospital specialists. The response to the style and editorial content has been extremely positive and we are very grateful for the essential part that you have played in this success. Considerable financial resources have been allocated to kick start and then to underpin the title.

The educational remit has been well fulfilled and the CME/CPD credits loop is now increasingly popular. Some regions have started using the published titles, with the MCQ loop, as core reading of a mandatory nature for their SPRs.

Our own research and discussion with editors of some of the titles indicates that many clinicians, senior and trainee alike, are prepared to run the expense of subscribing to a relevant title. In some regions the Clinical Tutor or Director of Medical Education has reimbursed for what is classified as Continuing Professional Development activity.

It is planned to have all our CME/CPD titles, including this one, on the Internet, with free access by Spring 2000. Added value features will include, chat boxes, discussion fora, on-line search facility etc. This should facilitate dissemination to a wider readership in Europe and world-wide.

We therefore propose that the journal becomes subscription based with the first issue of 2000. A subscription form for your use is available on page 34.

We hope that this provides you with an update on how we are looking to future developments in your specialty title and trust that you will consider taking out a subscription. This cost will be inclosure of the MCQ assessment activity.
