Description
The majority of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the context of acute myocardial infarction. However management of the minority of patients in whom there is no evidence of infarction remains a challenge. This article reviews the aetiology of non-infarction-related cardiac arrest and considers the role of the implantable defibrillator in treatment, in the light of a number of recently published studies.
