Description
Welcome to the third edition of the CPD Journal, Internal Medicine. Once again my sincere thanks to the contributors for their hard work and dedication to dead-lines, which have been quite tight this time. The Journal aims to present emergency medical topics in a practical and ‘punchy’ way, with the exigencies of the Acute Medical Intake firmly in mind. I welcome suggestions for articles (or indeed draft manuscripts for possible publication) from readers and these should be sent direct to me at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
Our web-site, at www.rila.co.uk, is an important advance for the Journal and I hope that you will use it in conjunction with the published text.
With the third edition I am delighted to welcome Derek Bell to the Editorial Team. Derek is physician at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he is the Patient Services Director of Acute Medicine. He kindly contributed an article for a previous edition and I hope that his joining us will stimulate submissions for publication from readers north of the border.
Dr. Katarzyna Dickinson has contributed an excellent case-report in which she describes woman with pulmonary oedema of neurogenic origin. She discusses theories of aetiology of this fascinating condition as well as aspects of modern management. I am keen to include case-reports as a regular feature in subsequent editions so please send appropriate articles to me. Best wishes for 2000.
