There are widely quoted figures for the success of endodontic therapy. However, many of these relate to success rates in specialist endodontic practice and may not be relevant to dentists working in general dental practice. This review article aimed to determine the different success rates found in general or specialist practice and where possible, find technique-related reasons for these. Recommendations regarding practical techniques are then made to improve endodontic success rates in general dental practice.
